DEMONSTRATION MEETING

The twenty-six members attending the demonstration meeting held at the Coburg Hotel on the 24th September were given a rare treat. Samples of ten perfume classics were available for examination. All but one were first launched before 1940 and most of the samples shown were at least twenty-five years old and in their original bottles and packaging.

Although, as to be expected, in some cases the topnotes had that 'over mature' character, the fragrances themselves were in good condition and demonstrated the high natural absolute levels used in compounding them.

Fresh and thirty-six hour dry outs were examined of the following :-

Mitsouko Guerlain 1919
Chanel 5 Chanel 1921
Chanel 22 Chanel  1924
Soir de Paris Bourjois 1929
Carne du Bal Revillon 1937
Arpege Lanvin 1927
Fleurs de Rocaille Caron 1935
Chantilly Houbigant 1941
Joy Patou 1935
Sortilege Le Galion 1938

Thanks were given to Mike Watson for arranging the meeting and to Bernard Nicoll for loaning the samples.
